Infinity Flight is proud to partner with Vermont State University (VTSU) to deliver flight training for its Professional Pilot Technology program. Beginning in Fall of 2026, Infinity Flight will serve as the exclusive flight training provider for VTSU students at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport, located just minutes from campus.
Through Vermont State University’s partnership with Infinity Flight Academy, students benefit from training provided by an FAA Part 141 flight school that holds FAA Self-Examining Authority, a distinction held by fewer than three percent of flight training providers nationwide. This authorization allows qualified VTSU students to complete eligible practical tests (checkrides) with Infinity-designated examiners, reducing dependence on external examiner availability, improving scheduling efficiency, and helping students maintain consistent progress toward degree completion and career readiness. The FAA grants Self-Examining Authority only to schools that consistently demonstrate exceptional training quality, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence, making it a significant distinction within the aviation industry.
Admission to the college program requires:
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- High School Diploma (college admission requirements apply)
- Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Lab Physics or Lab Chemistry (Physics recommended)
- Proof of citizenship or TSA approval for international students
- Pass FAA 2nd Class medical (FAA 1st Class recommended for airline career paths)
Students enrolled in the VTSU program will complete a progressive training path that includes Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certification, Multi-Engine Rating, and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII) certificates. Many students begin flight training early in their academic program and build significant flight experience prior to graduation.
The program is authorized by the FAA to allow graduates to qualify for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) certificate, reducing the total flight hours to 1000 from the standard 1500 required to pursue employment with a regional airline. This provides a faster and more cost-effective pathway to an airline career compared to training outside of an accredited collegiate aviation program.
Flight instruction is conducted by Infinity Flight Group at Burlington International Airport using modern training aircraft and flight training devices. Academic coursework is completed through Vermont State University, with a combination of on-campus and online learning options.
